THE HORNBY FESTIVAL
July 31 - August 9, 2025

THE FESTIVAL
The Hornby Festival is an annual 10-day music and culture Festival. The festival showcases diverse artistic and cultural activities, including musical performances spanning genres such as folk, blues, rock, jazz, world music, and classical, as well as literary readings, workshops, visual art exhibitions, and indigenous programming under the guidance of an Indigenous Elder.
Our Evenings at the Farm programming is the cornerstone of the Hornby Festival, featuring a dynamic blend of local talent and world-class performers. Each evening begins with a captivating local opening act, showcasing the rich artistic tapestry of Hornby Island, followed by a world-class headliner, bringing renowned artists from across the globe to our idyllic island setting.

The Festival’s evening classical concerts at the Hornby Island Community Hall offer unforgettable musical experiences, featuring renowned artists in a warm, community-centred atmosphere.

The Festival offers FREE, mini shows at beautiful locations throughout Hornby Island. These 20-minute spot performances will give you a taste of the performance happening the same evening! Tickets for the evening shows at Rosemuir Farm will be available for purchase.

Come on down to Hornby Island's own community radio station CHFR (located at Joe King Park) to see a 20-minute performance and interview by each artist/group playing at Rosemuir Farm that night.

Are you wondering about bringing your kids to a quiet, full-evening classical performance, yet want to expose them to some of this amazing music? Then Classical Kids is the event for you! Everyone will love this 30-minute, world-class, youth-oriented presentation created especially for young people who are learning to appreciate the classical style of music. Join us without hesitation; we “get” kids!
Suitable for kids ages 0-99

We have been honoured to have Cultural Knowledge Keeper and Pentlach Descendant Elder Barbara Whyte (Billy) lead the Festival’s Indigenous programming. The Hornby Festival is committed to ongoing, intentional and meaningful Indigenous-led collaborative programming. Indigenous programming is being held at three different venues; Rosemuir Farm, the Community Hall, and New Horizons.

A curated Art Show and a range of Interactive Activities take place each year at the Hornby Island Community Hall, inviting people of all ages to connect, create, and explore the island’s rich artistic culture.

Prior to each classical concert, the artists offer an educational pre-concert talk, where the music that will be performed is discussed and questions from the audience are answered. We encourage all to attend as coming to hear the artists share their background, perspectives, and history of the programme will deepen your understanding and overall appreciation and experience at the concert.
