The Art of Storybook Illustration for the Child in All of Us

What do you feed a hungry imagination? Pictures and stories! Join us and a wild parade of imaginary animals for a visual feast in an interactive exhibit that celebrates the art of illustration and picture books. See how words and pictures go hand-in-paw as you walk through a story, draw your own picture book, or curl up in the imaginary world of a book in our youth-curated, cosy reading corner.
Rae Maté
Rae Maté has always loved making pictures. When she heard the "Lord's Prayer" recited in first grade, she thought the phrase "Our Father who art in heaven" referred to the creator indulging His passion for drawing and painting. Rae has illustrated five books for children and is happiest when she's making art in heaven on Hornby Island, BC.
Jo Lechay
Jo Lechay prefers strange-looking animals to normal ones. She has identified some of them, but it will be up to you to name the others.
