BIO
Vox Sambou, originally from Haiti and now based in Montreal, Québec, is a vocalist, bandleader, MC, poet, and multilingual performer fluent in Haitian Creole, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Influenced by Afrobeat, reggae, hip-hop, and the rhythms of the African diaspora, his music blends uplifting joy with social activism. Vox Sambou’s dynamic live performances have captivated audiences around the world, spreading a message of unity, resilience, and hope. He is the co-founder of the Montreal hip-hop collective Nomadic Massive. With a focus on social issues, his music radiates joy and optimism. As a charismatic showman and committed activist, he effortlessly engages audiences with infectious melodies and relentless rhythms infused with energy, passion, and love.
His album We Must Unite is a tribute to the resilience and contributions of Haitians and their diasporas in Brazil, Chile, North America, and Africa. The album fuses traditional Haitian rhythms with Brazilian Candomblé, alongside hip-hop, reggae, and Afrobeat. Vox Sambou has performed at major global festivals including Jazzahead (Germany), Zomer van Antwerpen (Belgium), Huvila Tent Festival (Helsinki), DC Jazz Fest, The Kennedy Center, and Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. He has also appeared at Rio das Ostras Jazz Festival (Brazil), Womad Chile, and Circulart (Colombia).

Sila is nine years old and has been raised on Hornby Island since birth. Her first singing performance was at a fundraising event when she was two years old, and it gave her great joy. She loves nature, art, and music, and Hornby is a great place to explore all of these.
