INDIGENOUS PROGRAMMING
The Hornby Festival has been prioritizing working with Indigenous communities and initiatives led by Elder Barbara Whyte (Billy), Pentlatch knowledge keeper and member of the K’ómoks First Nation, since 2019 and continues to do so. We recognize the importance of centering Indigenous voices and knowledge in our work and actively seek out opportunities for collaboration. An integral part of our festival is our Indigenous programming in the Hornby Community Hall.
During the Festival, the Hornby Festival Society will be hosting artists in residencies to share art, culture, and lived stories to ensure that unique perspectives and knowledge are included. We recognize the importance of reconciliation by entering into relationships with the express purpose of forming meaningful, intentional, Indigenous-led cultural collaborative programming.
